Blue skies forever

In 2016, Beyoncé released her video clip Hold Up into the world. The clip is very similar to the video work Ever is Over All by Pipilotti Rist from 1997. Fascinated by the different images of women in these videos, Buren explore the two protagonists of Ever is Over All: Dorothy, derived from the lead character in The Wizard of Oz, and the Officer, a policewoman. In a dream-like, associative game, Buren explore alternative ways of depicting these figures, bringing them back to life in new imagery.
