Alledaags Afscheid

Next year, Ferenc Balcaen will present a new theatre production at NTGent. In this work, he explores melancholy as both an aesthetic and existential experience: reflecting on loss, memory, change, and the longing to hold on to what inevitably slips away. In preparation, Balcaen has been experimenting with installations and small-scale performances, two of which he will share with an audience during Playground.

Alledaags Afscheid at M focuses on a deeper thematic exploration. Balcaen invites visitors to an intimate encounter, where hands speak and words are allowed to hesitate. These conversations form part of his research into melancholy, as he reflects on how we pause for farewell and how we cope with everyday loss.
