Performance art: craft or amateur art? A game with the codes of the theatre and the museum

How can performance art be defined today? There is no consensus, but recurring elements are the here-and-now, the ephemeral, the body and activating the spectator. This master class will look at the codes of the visual and performing arts, and where they intersect. Important terms are deskilling, reskilling and framing. For this discussion, Katleen Van Langendonck draws on her experience as a coordinator and curator of Performatik, teacher, coordinator for performing arts and literature at Europalia, and former co-artistic director of the Kaaitheater in Brussels.
