Sonja Jokiniemi (FI)

Sonja Jokiniemi investigates the shaping of language in a playful way. She makes use of sounds, repetition and the physical aspect of language. Instead of giving meaning, she makes sounds and creates a chaotic musical entity. Starting from collaboration with autistic youths and people with special psychic qualities, she developed her own personal trip. It looks as if she’s shuffling and stumbling in a world without cohesion, where objects and sounds have no meaning. But suddenly, a story emerges. Hmm explores the transition from meaninglessness to meaning, from random sound to language.
