Elastic Habitat is an immersive installation, a playground of textile sculptures for the viewer to interact with or wear. Helena Dietrich and Janneke Raaphorst designed the textile figures based on one-on-one sessions with different guests. During these conversations, they examined the personal perception of their own body. These descriptions have been transformed into a kind of clothing; a material translation of how the guests felt about their body.
Does your personality coincide with this body and all that surrounds it? If you change something, do you change yourself? You literally crawl into the mind of an imaginary body and investigate your own identity in an unconstrained, sensory, and intuitive way.
