The sculpture WONDER-WHAT-TIME-IT-IS is inspired by a short story by the American author Edgar Allen Poe. The story is set in the city of Vondervotteimittiss where life is controlled by a bell tower. One day, an outsider disrupts life in the town. In an installation with projections, images, and sculpture, Falke Pisano reformulates the question ‘What time is it?’ as ‘What is the most important thing right now?’, inspiring you to question not only the time, but also yourself. The spatial sculpture and performance thus reflects on language, thought, and perception, and problematises the idea that language as an expression of thought is detached from culture and history.
