A Piece Danced Alone

In A Piece Danced Alone, the Swiss dancer Alexandra Bachzetsis shares the stage with a doppelgänger, Anne Pajunen. Initially, both women each seem to dance their own short solos. Almost unnoticeably, they begin to copy each other’s movements. With microscopic precision, Bachzetsis adds live-recorded video images to the performance. Like in a house of mirrors with endless reflections, the line between original and doppelgänger fades. In her performances, Alexandra Bachzetsis explores the representation of the (female) body in the media and on television. Bachzetsis danced with Les Ballets C de la B and Sasha Waltz.
