STUK is a building on a hill, but due to its architecture, visitors are hardly aware of this. The views and passage ways in STUK remind André Van Bergen of The Music Box by Laurel & Hardy in which they climb an impossible mountain with a piano. Van Bergen is fascinated by our use of heights, space and volume and the experiences related to these. He is keen to rekindle the building’s ‘mountain feeling’ with an architectural installation. Across the railing on the courtyard, he builds a corridor that overhangs the edge. Visitors are welcome to enter this corridor, which creates a sense of disorientation. Much like a huge pair of binoculars, you can enjoy the view of the Dijle valley from the STUK hill.
