Guy de Cointet
Going to the Market, Two Drawings & My Father's Diary
Last year Playground featured the remarkable Tell Me. This
year it presents three monologues by French pop art artist Guy de Cointet
(1934, Paris- 1983, Los Angeles). De Cointet is famous for his objects
sharing striking colours, forms and signs. Each of the three performances
focuses on one particular work of art as a point of departure for a
dramatic, funny, absurd and compelling story. The monologues are performed
by the American Mary Ann Glicksman, who for many years was de Cointet’s
muse. Two Drawings and My Father’s Diary
were recently on display at De Appel in Amsterdam and CRAC at Sète.
Going to the Market was last performed in 1979.
